Example:

- rotten (adj) /ˈrɑː.tən/: mục nát; thối rữa; đã hỏng (từ này dùng để mô tả đồ ăn, gỗ …)
- nocturnal (adj) /nɑːkˈtɜːrnl/: (động vật) hoạt động về đêm

- confine (v) /kənˈfaɪn/ (C1) = to keep sb/sth inside the limits of a particular activity, subject, area, etc.: hạn chế, giới hạn (trong một hoạt động, chủ đề, lĩnh vực)
= restrict (v)
=> (sb/sth) + be confined to sth: (ai/thứ gì) bị giới hạn (chỉ ở trong lĩnh vực, hoạt động, … nào đó)
Examples:

- spot (v) /spɑːt/ (B2) = to see or notice sb/sth, usually because you are looking hard (nhìn thấy, nhận ra, phát hiện ra)
