MODEL ANSWER:
I would like to talk about an occasion when I had to persuade my best friend to go on a four-day trip with me to a picturesque village in the back of beyond. Last summer, I just wanted a few days off to recharge my batteries, so I encouraged my friends to go somewhere off the beaten track. So we decided to travel to a quaint little village near Ho Chi Minh City. Even though the village is not a really well-known tourist site, it is a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It’s a small, ancient village set in the foothills of a low mountain range, and it’s renowned for exotic delicacies such as roast fish and oven-roasted lamb leg.
My friends and I had been there before a couple of times and we were fairly familiar with the village and knew some ideal places to stay. This time we would like to stay in a pretty tiny farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. Anyway, one friend of mine really didn’t hanker to come, because she didn’t like the idea of staying in a house that is a far cry from the comfort of her flat, and she was concerned about being cold at night and things like this. You know, she really likes her creature comforts. Besides, hiking in hills and doing physical activities are not her cup of tea. It took me three days to encourage her to go to this area because it would be a fascinating cultural experience and a real eye-opener for her. In addition, hiking could also help her to blow off some steam. She was very reluctant at first, and didn’t really like me trying to pressure her, but after three days of trying to convince her that it was an idyllic spot to relax and sample mouth-watering food, she made up her mind to travel with us. She was also absolutely delighted with this trip. It was one of the most unforgettable experiences for us.
