USEFUL EXPRESSIONS:
- lift your spirits = to make sb happier (khiến cho ai đó vui vẻ hơn, hạnh phúc hơn)
Example: Most people have at least one hobby or treat that instantly lifts their spirits.
- bring sb a sense of fulfilment (C2): mang lại cho ai đó cảm nhận/cảm giác hạnh phúc và hài lòng
Example: For some lucky people, it’s their job that brings them a sense of fulfilment.
- the key to contentment: cách tốt nhất để đạt được cảm nhận về sự hạnh phúc
Example: For some people, close relationships are the key to contentment.
- over the moon (idiom) (B2) = extremely happy and excited (cực kỳ hạnh phúc và phấn khích)
Example: Since becoming a dad, my daughter is the one thing that makes both my wife and me absolutely over the moon.
- boost happiness: nâng cao/gia tăng sự hạnh phúc
Example: Counting your blessings and reliving a positive memory from the previous day were two of the most effective techniques for boosting happiness.
=> count your blessings (idiom): biết ơn cho những thứ tốt đẹp trong cuộc đời bạn
- seek/find fulfilment: tìm kiếm cảm nhận/cảm giác hạnh phúc và hài lòng
Example: how they have sought fulfilment in alternative careers
- boost our levels of satisfaction: nâng cao mức độ hài lòng/thỏa mãn
- bring sb contentment: mang lại cho ai đó cảm nhận về hạnh phúc
Example: For Emily, it’s the key relationships in her life that have brought her contentment.
- bring lasting happiness: mang lại sự hạnh phúc lâu dài
- be fundamental to your happiness: quan trọng/cần thiết/cốt lõi cho sự hạnh phúc của bạn
Example: Caring about others is fundamental to our happiness.
- improve your mood: tâm trạng trở nên vui hơn, tốt hơn
Example: Being active instantly improves our mood and can even lift us out of depression.
- boost your wellbeing: nâng cao sức khỏe và sự hạnh phúc của bạn
Example: We can boost our wellbeing by spending time outdoors, eating healthily and getting enough sleep.
- bring a sense of accomplishment: mang lại cảm nhận về sự hoàn thành/sự đạt được và sự thỏa mãn
Example: Choosing meaningful but realistic goals brings a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when we achieve them.
- do wonders for your wellbeing: có ích/có lợi/tốt cho sức khỏe và sự hạnh phúc của bạn
Example: Learning to be more mindful and aware does wonders for our wellbeing.
- content (adj) (C1) = happy and satisfied with what you have (hạnh phúc và hài lòng)
Example: To be content at work, you need to work steadily towards a specific goal, make friends and find meaning in what you do.
- sustain your happiness: duy trì được sự hạnh phúc của bạn
Example: It can be really hard to sustain your happiness.
- set sb on course for a happier life: khiến cho ai đó có khả năng có được một cuộc sống hạnh phúc hơn
Example: Everyone has the power to make small changes in our behavior, our surroundings and our relationships that can help set us on course for a happier life.
- do sb a/the world of good (idiom) (C2) = to make sb feel much healthier or happier (làm cho ai đó cảm thấy hạnh phúc hơn hoặc khỏe mạnh hơn)
Example: A bit of fresh air and exercise will do her a world of good.
- take its toll on people’s health and wellbeing: có ảnh hưởng xấu lên sức khỏe và sự hạnh phúc của mọi người
Example: Stress at work is taking its toll on people’s health and wellbeing.
- bump up your wellbeing: nâng cao sự hạnh phúc và sức khỏe của bạn
Example: The simple act of doing gratitude visits can significantly bump up your wellbeing for over a month.
IDEAS:
- Giving creates stronger connections between people and helps to build a happier society for everyone. Do three extra acts of kindness.

Eat nutritious food, drink more water, catch up on sleep. Notice which healthy actions lift your mood and do more of them.

Regular exercise can lift you out of depression, but even if you’re healthy a burst of activity will boost your mood.

Learning to be more mindful helps us get in tune with our feelings and stops us dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.

Learning affects our wellbeing in lots of positive ways. It exposes us to new ideas and helps us stay curious and engaged. It also gives us a sense of accomplishment and helps boost our self-confidence and resilience.

Learning to accept ourselves, warts and all, and being kinder to ourselves when things go wrong increases our enjoyment of life, our resilience and our wellbeing.
He says that cultivating good-quality friendships across our lives is beneficial for our wellbeing.
The key to happiness is knowing where to look. We’re conditioned from a young age to aim high and seek fulfilment in a better job, fresh achievement and further success.
The less you compare, the happier you will be.
