Dưới đây là các từ vựng, Collocations, Idioms, Phrasal Verbs được rút ra từ bài thi IELTS LISTENING, trong sách CAMBRIDGE IELTS 10 – Test 1 mà bạn nên ghi chép lại để học. Mỗi từ vựng dưới đây sẽ được phân loại từ vựng, có phát âm, định nghĩa và ví dụ. Có các từ vựng thuộc trình độ nâng cao sẽ được chú thích B2, C1, C2. Khi làm xong bất kỳ một đề IELTS LISTENING, các bạn nên học từ vựng mới trong phần Recording và từ vựng mới trong câu hỏi của mỗi test.
SECTION 1
- places of interest (phrase) = sites of interest to tourists (những địa điểm thu hút du khách)
Example:
There are many places of interest near my hometown.
- theme park (n) /ˈθiːm ˌpɑːrk/: công viên giải trí
- lodge (n) /lɑːdʒ/: nhà nghỉ
- slightly (adv) /ˈslaɪtli/: nhỏ; ở một mức độ không đáng kể

Her family then moved to a slightly larger house.
- cover (v) /ˈkʌvər/ (B2) = to travel a particular distance (đi được)
Example:
We covered 600 km in five hours.

- run through sth (phrasal verb) = to discuss, repeat or read sth quickly (thảo luận, lặp lại hoặc đọc qua thứ gì một cách nhanh chóng)
Example:
I ran through the options with her.
- expand sth (v) /ɪkˈspænd/ (B2) = to make sth greater in size, number or importance (mở rộng)
Example:
There are plans to expand the airport.
- retractable (adj) /rɪˈtræk.tə.bəl/: có thể rụt vào, có thể co vào, có thể kéo thụt vào
Example:
A 30,000-seat stadium with a retractable roof is planned.
- refurbish (v) /ˌriːˈfɜːrbɪʃ/ = to decorate and repair sth such as a building or office in order to improve its appearance (tân trang lại, trang trí lại)
Example:
This building has recently been completely refurbished.
- on duty (idiom) = working at a particular time (làm việc, làm nhiệm vụ)
Example:
She was on duty that evening.
- cater for sb (phrasal verb) /ˈkeɪtər/ (C1): phục vụ, cung cấp thứ cần thiết (cho ai)
Example:
This library caters for people from all walks of life.
- assessment (n) /əˈsesmənt/: sự đánh giá, hành động đánh giá
- take sb through sth (phrasal verb) = to explain sth to sb (giải thích điều gì cho ai đó)
Example:
I asked her to take me through her daily exercise regimen.
- draw sth up (phrasal verb) (C1) = to prepare sth, usually sth official, in writing (chuẩn bị thứ gì, vạch ra thứ gì)
COLLOCATIONS:
to draw up a contract/list: chuẩn bị một hợp đồng/danh sách
- compulsory (adj) /kəmˈpʌlsəri/ (B2): bắt buộc
Example:
In my country, learning English was compulsory.
- entitle (v) /ɪnˈtaɪ.t̬əl/ (C1) = to give sb the right to do or have sth (cho quyền (làm gì…))
PHRASE:
entitle sb to (do) sth: cho quyền ai đó làm gì
Examples:
This ticket entitles you to travel first class.

- come up with sth (phrasal verb) (B2) = to suggest or think of an idea or plan (đưa ra một kế hoạch hoặc ý tưởng)
Example:
She’s come up with some amazing scheme to augment her income.
- adopt sth /əˈdɑːpt/ (v) (B2) = to accept or start to use sth new (chấp nhận, bắt đầu áp dụng thứ gì đó mới)
Examples:
The new tax would force companies to adopt energy-saving measures.
