Dưới đây là các từ vựng, Collocations, Idioms, Phrasal Verbs được rút ra từ bài thi IELTS LISTENING, trong sách CAMBRIDGE IELTS 9 – Test 3 mà bạn nên ghi chép lại để học. Mỗi từ vựng dưới đây sẽ được phân loại từ vựng, có phát âm, định nghĩa và ví dụ. Có các từ vựng thuộc trình độ nâng cao sẽ được chú thích B2, C1, C2. Khi làm xong bất kỳ một đề IELTS LISTENING, các bạn nên học từ vựng mới trong phần Recording và từ vựng mới trong câu hỏi của mỗi test.
SECTION 1
- reasonable (adj) /ˈriː.zən.ə.bəl/ (B2): (nói về giá cả) không quá đắt; vừa phải; phải chăng
Example:
The store’s prices are reasonable.
- jot sth down (phrasal verb) /dʒɑːt/ /daʊn/ = to write sth quickly (viết thứ gì nhanh chóng)
Example:
I jot down her license number.
- terrace (n) /ˈterəs/: một sân mái phẳng hoặc hở gần kề một tòa nhà, thường được sử dụng để ngồi, tổ chức các bữa ăn và tận hưởng ánh mặt trời
- well-equipped (adj) /wel ɪˈkwɪpt/: có đầy đủ trang thiết bị, dụng cụ
- kite-surfing (n) /ˈkaɪtsɜːrfɪŋ/: (môn thể thao) lướt ván diều
- within budget (idiom) = not spending more money than had been planned for (không tiêu xài nhiều tiền hơn mức đã được lập kế hoạch)
- sensible (adj) /ˈsensəbl/ (B1): có óc xét đoán; biểu lộ óc xét đoán

- acquire sth (v) /əˈkwaɪər/ (B2) = to obtain sth by buying or being given it (giành được, thu được, đạt được thứ gì bằng việc mua nó)

- settle down (phrasal verb) /ˈset̬.əl/ /daʊn/ (C1) = to start living in a place where you intend to stay for a long time, usually with your partner (bắt đầu sống ổn định ở một nơi)

I decided to settle down and start a family.
- enormous (adj) /ɪˈnɔːrməs/ = extremely large

I chose not to undertake the project because of the enormous costs involved.
- miniature (adj) /ˈmɪnətʃər/ = very small

The little boy looks like a miniature version of his handsome big brother.

- set sth up (phrasal verb) (C1): thiết lập/thành lập (một công ty, doanh nghiệp, tổ chức, hệ thống…)

- all year round (idiom) = throughout the entire year (trong suốt cả năm)

- concern yourself with sth (phrasal verb) = to take an interest in sth (quan tâm, hứng thú với thứ gì)

She loves her children, and concerns herself with their needs and desires.
- look after sb/sth (phrasal verb): chịu trách nhiệm với (ai/thứ gì) hoặc quan tâm/chăm sóc (ai/thứ gì)
- mechanical (adj) /məˈkæn.ɪ.kəl/: (thuộc) máy móc; (thuộc) cơ khí
- maintenance (n) /ˈmeɪntənəns/ (C1): sự bảo dưỡng, sự bảo quản (máy móc, tòa nhà…)
engine maintenance: sự bảo dưỡng máy/động cơ

This building requires minimal maintenance.
- devote sth to (doing) sth (phrasal verb) = to give an amount of time, energy, attention, etc. to sth (dành thời gian, năng lượng, sự chú ý cho thứ gì)
Example:
I devote several hours every weekend to playing with my dog.
- squadron (n) /ˈskwɑːdrən/ = a large group of people or things (một đội ngũ người, một nhóm lớn các vật)
- smoothly (adv) /ˈsmuːðli/ (B2) = without problems or difficulties (không có vấn đề hay khó khăn nào)

- stalwart (n) /ˈstɔːlwərt/ = a loyal supporter who does a lot of work for an organization (một người ủng hộ trung thành và làm nhiều việc cho một tổ chức)
- take over (from sb) (B2) = to begin to have responsibility for sth, especially in place of sb else: thay ai tiếp quản một công việc, trách nhiệm …

- souvenir (n) /ˌsuːvəˈnɪr/: vật kỷ niệm, đồ lưu niệm

- overcome sth (v) /ˌəʊvərˈkʌm/ (B2): xử lý thành công, vượt qua được, khắc phục được (vấn đề, khó khăn…)

- talk sth over (with sb) (phrasal verb) (B2) = to discuss sth carefully and completely, especially in order to reach an agreement or make a decision: thảo luận thứ gì một cách cẩn thận, kỹ lưỡng (với ai đó)

- tutorial (n) /tuːˈtɔːriəl/: thời kỳ hướng dẫn (nhất là do trợ giáo đảm nhận cho một sinh viên hoặc một nhóm học sinh)
